dj dérive provides an exclusive contribution to our mix series conjuring an imaginary rave in the woods, somewhere around Frankfurt, sometime around the mid 90ies. Influenced by the lust for transcendental imperatives of that time (open up your mind!) the mix provides an elegant journey to a moment before Trance in Germany became fully commodified. Full of bleeps, synthesised wobbles and a good portion of kitsch (you are a child of the universe!) the mix should not be mistaken as a nostalgic longing per se, but rather as a sonic time-capsule which tries to express an optimistic counterpoint to the ravelled months of March/April 2020. The sound of Frankfurt based labels such as Cyclotron, Fax +49-69/450464, Ongaku Musik or Eye Q Records offer an ongoing support of positive vibes, which she wants to share with us.
The area around Frankfurt is not unknown to dj dérive, who grew up in Kassel and spent some time in the former capital of electronic music. Now being based in Berlin she enjoys trippy sounds and contemporary breaks.
