Welcome to the first We Dont Mess About Podcast of 2016. As with the rest, this podcast is devoted to underplayed, underappreciated and overlooked gems in music of all genres. This mix demonstrates something a little different as I selected seven techno records from my collection, with many created by drum and bass stalwarts including Klute, Pieter K and ASC. Full track details below.
Tracklist:
1. Deepchord - Red Lantern (Parts 1 & 2) [Astral Industries]
2. ASC - Immersion [SIlent Season]
3. Anton Zap - Captain Storm [Apollo]
4. Indigo - Sunrise [Apollo]
5. Indigo - Condition [Samurai Red Seal]
6. Pieter K - Communication [PAL]
7. Klute - Only Memory is a Good One [Commercial Suicide]
The first track is off a very special four track LP with art by Theo Ellsworth (check him out) and is 100% meditative dub techno. Deepchord's 'Lanterns LP' holds a special place in my heart . With it, I completely lose myself in the music.

Simply put, ASC makes what he wants without regard to genre or style. 'Immersion', off the 'Beneath the Surface EP' demonstrates his techno and ambient abilities with more meditative ethereal music.

Anton Zap's 'Captain Storm', off his phenomenal album 'Water' is just one of many fantastic tunes from the LP. Adding atmospheres and a groove, this track picks up the energy and gets your head nodding to the beat guaranteed!

Indigo is another name that not enough people play, despite the fact that he makes crazy space music type beats. 'Sunrise' is a track that has some serious progression, with the first part of the song building tension while the second part drops down.

'Condition', off of the Storm EP, demonstrates Indigo's breadth. Although I cheated a little and played this record at 45RPM instead of the standard 33.3, the influence of space and atmosphere is ever present.

Pieter K is a name that was truly years ahead of his time whether in drum and bass or in house. 'Communication' is a $2 record that I stumbled across on discogs that has some serious rolling beats, lush vocals and detuned piano chords. Well worth grabbing for yourself!

I finish up with the drum and bass legend Klute, and one of his many forays into techno. 'Only Memory is a Good One' finishes up this podcast on a rolling note and truly demonstrates his versatility with all genres.

Thanks for listening and I hope you look forward to the many podcasts that we will bring this coming year! Up in a few weeks is a darker drum and bass podcast mixed by myself, followed by a deep dubstep mix by Mindscan. Look forward to it!
