Description

It's We Dont Mess About Podcast time! Episode 027 brings some of my favorite sounds on the deeper end of the spectrum. This includes some flips that are rarely played, as well as some records that haven't seen the light in a long while. From rollers such as Dom & Roland's 'Rollstar' to highly technical beats like Pieter K's 'Sequence', this is a podcast for the diggers. Hope you dig it.

Tracklist:
1. Physics - Life in Cycles [Midnight Sun]
2. Break - Pression [Commercial Suicide]
3. Dom & Roland - Rollstar [Commercial Suicide]
4. Ill Skillz - They Could Love [Ill Skillz]
5. Skitty - Dirty South [Subtitles]
6. Pieter K - Sequence [Breakbeat Science]
7. Deep Blue - Do You Voodoo? (Ror-Shak Remix) [Offshore]
8. Randomer - Synth Geek [Hospital]
9. Data & Dynamic - The Fold [Inside]
10. ASC - Symmetry [Veil]

The first track combines a dissonant atmosphere with an ominous bassline to create an underplayed gem on Finnish label Midnight Sun Recordings. I really love 'Life in Cycles', despite its lackluster sales.

Break's 'Pression' is one hell of a weird roller, complete with a nightmarish atmosphere and a vocal sample that sends chills down your spine. Also the BONGOS!

'Rollstar' was highly overlooked due to the power of the record's flipside: Vicious Circle & Nocturnal's 'Last Chance Saloon', but it's a distorted roller of quality.

Ill Skillz' 'They Could Love' features a rolling bassline and a lovely vocal sample to really bring a proper atmosphere to the mix. I really dig a lot of Ill Skillz stuff, though very little still gets airtime as they've gone to make other types of beats.

'Dirty South' is another flip that was largely overshadowed by the power of Noisia's 'Time Stops'. Yet, it still can hold its own as a deep and solid roller.

Pieter K's 'Sequence'. Where do I even begin. I dont know what half of the sounds are supposed to be or where they came from. The entire track is hands down technical brilliance. Why people didn't worship this man like the god he his is beyond me. Seriously, check this one.

A track that was played by the likes of DJ Clever way back, 'Do You Voodoo?' has brilliant atmosphere combined with a simple bass to haunt your mind for hours.

Hospital released a couple of truly underground gems, with 'Synth Geek' being one of them. Another technical piece that really comes together as a strange, twisted, mad scientist's version of a beat.

Mimalized to the depths of the ocean, Data and Dynamic outdid themselves with a track I consider among my personal favorites. All you need is a good bassline and a hihat for a good beat, and this proves it.

Lastly, ASC's 'Symmetry' rounds out the mix with more introspective atmosphere and melodies. I really enjoy this tune as a way to lift up from all the deep rollers. Great track.
