Description

1 Tim 4:1-2 The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.

Sadly, many cults and sects have emerged that are leading many astray. The one area that seems to always deviate from the Bible is specifically the theology to do with the afterlife. Many people with a Christian background have become universalists, believing that everyone will be saved one day. Even within this belief there are some that have become pluralists, believing that God has made multiple means by which people can be saved. Another growing belief is that of the annihilationist who believes that God condemns the wicked by causing them to cease to exist. In this message I will start by outlining contrasting views of the afterlife from world religions and sects. As I share these with you, ask yourself what the implications of each view point is. How does it affect how people live today? From there we will examine what the Bible says about hell and heaven. I want to end on a good note so that’s why I will talk to you about hell in the middle. The decisions that we make on earth are so important because death is final and (contrary to what some believe) there are no second chances after we die. Our eternal destiny is determined on the basis of what we do in this life.
