Throughout this study we will discuss both God’s mercy towards mankind and the mercy of people toward other people. We see God’s mercy in this passage as He is the initiator of the covenant. Lot did not go out seeking after God. In fact, he was hesitant to leave Sodom. We see this with Adam, Noah, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. God’s mercy is the foundation of the covenant He makes with His people.
