Description

Why should I pray? If we don’t understand the why, we remain relatively prayerless or faithless in our prayers. It doesn’t matter how many times we are told to pray, or invited to pray, or even how many times we commit ourselves to a new prayer regimen. If we don’t understand why, we probably won’t see the difference it can make. In our busy schedules, if prayer doesn’t promise a tangible reward/fruit of the time and labour,…well… let’s be honest, the logical outworking of that for any intelligent person is that they won’t pray.
We need to have clarity on the answers to our questions regarding prayer from the Word of God. The Word of God is our standard, our measure of truth. It is the only place we find infallible answers. Clarity will help us to pray with faith, accuracy, fervency, understanding and without presumption and foolishness. If there is doubt around its power or necessity, then put quite simply, prayerlessness will result.
