The Garden of Arborea is the latest in soundcloud.com/misledconvoy’s Black Mountain Transmissions atmospheric dub series, recorded live in quadrophonic sound before being meticulously refined in the studio for stereo listening.
The Garden of Arborea was the theme for this year’s Luma Light Festival in Queenstown, for which Mike, as the musical director, composed a series of immersive surround soundscapes for different zones and light installations.
Following the festival, Misled Convoy was invited to perform at Nano Festival, for which he weaved all the Luma soundscapes into a continuous, multi-track collage and played that live on a quadrophonic system. Recordings of this performance, along with all the control data, were then taken into the studio, where they were shaped into a stereo composition.
The Garden of Arborea evolves organically, growing and shifting like the natural world that inspired it, with atmospheres unfurling slowly, punctuated by rhythmic accents and deep bass drops.
Black Mountain Transmissions perfectly complements Misled Convoy's Translations remix series, allowing him to further explore the sonic universe free of commercial constraints.
