In this continuation of his series on the Holy Scriptures, Fr. Matthias Shehad explores the preservation and authenticity of Old and New Testament manuscripts. He explains the meticulous Jewish tradition of copying Old Testament texts, highlighting the role of the Masoretic Text and its differences from the Septuagint. Fr. Matthias also discusses the significance of the Dead Sea Scrolls discovery in confirming the reliability of scripture.
He then examines over 300 Old Testament prophecies about the Messiah fulfilled in Christ, citing Psalm 22 and the Wisdom of Solomon as examples. Fr. Matthias shows how prophecies about the Egyptian church in Isaiah find fulfillment in St. Mark’s establishment of Christianity in Egypt.
Additionally, Fr. Matthias addresses non-Christian historical evidence supporting biblical events and points to scientific statements in scripture that align with modern discoveries, emphasizing the divine origin of the Bible’s message.
