She's the first trans person to run for state-wide office in Oregon, the first candidate ever endorsed by Portland DSA, an Army veteran, and tenant organizer. Candy & I talked to her and Bryan from her campaign and the DSA Electoral Working Group about her work, how she wound in up Oregon after escaping small-town North Carolina, enlisting in combat infantry, witnessing U.S. imperialism and (pretty much) slave labor in Qatar.
We also get into why you want to run socialist candidates for office, and the utility of the Bernie 2020 campaign for movement building.
The Oregon primary vote is scheduled for May 19, 2020.
