This week, AC (https://acxg.poetry.blog) and I, Imogen Arate (https://poetsandmuses.com/imogen-arate/), discuss our respective poems, "Daily Rituals" and "New Habits," and how we conduct self care.

3. Notes from AC:
"First, the activist was #EdRoberts, who successfully sued University of California Berkeley in 1962. I believe UCB may have actually settled- either way, Ed got in and made UCB a cornerstone of disability activism.
"I do want to add an addendum. As with all things in the history of rights, we don't have "open and shut" timelines. People have been pushing boundaries to set precedents for the future, both in the fight against segregation in higher education as well as in the disability rights movement.
"#JustinDart was a wheelchair user who attended the #UniversityofHouston, graduating in 1954. However, he wasn't allowed his teaching degree. Similarly, people of color have been pushing at high education since the 1800s, with a seminal moment in Brown v Board of 1954.
"The synchronicity isn't accidental. The disability rights movement was grounded in/learned from the work of black activists. We would not be where we are today without them and alongside them.
"I've included some timelines for disability rights and racial civil rights in higher education:
