In 2005 I started my journey as a DJ. I was so broke that all I could afford was one single turntable and I spent my last dime on it. I had no mixer, cheap shitty headphones, and two old 70's speakers I found at a flea market. I found an old abandoned receiver at the flea market as well, and bought another cheap one for $20 at the Goodwill. I would play a CD, or the radio through one receiver, and had my CDJ hooked up to the other. I would beat match by turning one receiver down, and the other one up. I did this for the better half of a year until I could afford the rest of the gear. Once I felt I was ready to spin in public, I landed gigs during happy hours at local bars and eventually landed the weekend night slots. I ended up playing roughly 3 nights a week at an average of 4 hours per night. I did this for 4 years until I decided I was done with all that nonsense and wanted to start fresh and play this Dubstep music that I had been slowly falling deeper and deeper in love with over the last couple years.

I decided to create this character Nebakaneza who was an evil villain. The new persona took a while to catch on, but I stuck with it because I was having a lot of fun with the new persona. I lost lots of money because I quit all of my regular gigs and I was basically right back to square one. I had already established a tiny following as my previous alias, and released dozens of mixes, so many people thought I had lost my mind and my fan base dwindled. Luckily that changed over the years.

Now 3 years later, with about 20 Dubstep mixes recorded and well over 3,000 Dubstep tunes in my library, I decided it is time to branch out once again. I have always been addicted to music and to this day it is still the main thing I spend most of my money on. I love digging for tunes and making mixes and now that the Dubstep scene is expanding into new sounds, I wanted to share my love of many other genres with everyone. I still love Dubstep immensely and will continue to spin it because the scene is still very strong and the music just keeps getting better and better, but I just wanted to add a few diverse sounds to my roster. If I decide to spin something other than Dubstep live, I will either go under a different alias, or make it clear on the flier. Before Nebakaneza was created I had dozens of genres I would spin, from Trip Hop, Brokenbeat, 2step/Garage, Deep House, Rare Soul/Jazz/Funk, Nu Jazz/Acid Jazz, Downtempo Electronica, Brazilian, Electro Funk/Soul, Disco, Hip Hop, and many others. With this new Expansion Project, I wanted to bring some of that diversity back to the table.
