Winner of Scots Singer of the Year at the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards 2018, Iona’s musical journey to date has included a number of highlights namely touring the world, performing to her audiences and collaborating with fellow musicians on various projects and performances. Taking inspiration and influence from all types of music and experiences, Iona is responsive to opportunities presented and is also passionate and proactive in the campaign to have the Scots leid recognised lawfully as a legitimate language. As both a Scots speaker and a woman in the music industry, Iona shares her story highlighting the adversity, discrimination and harassment she has encountered at points in her career and the importance of standing up for what you believe in, with music and your platform being powerful tools to communicate your message.
