The Braw and The Brave is a podcast about people and their passions.
Episode 121 is in conversation with Alison Wood and Mhairi Cochrane the founders of Lilypads. A trip to Kenya and the discovery that young women in schools were having transactional sex in order to get sanitary products, left Alison with two options- do nothing or create an affordable reusable pad. 3 years on and what has been an incredible journey thus far, Lilypads products are available in the UK and in Kenya, which is not only tackling the issue at hand but are also helping to cut down on menstrual waste. Providing puberty education programmes in schools, Alison and Mhairi are keen to normalise talking about periods and sexual health. They are passionate about tackling period poverty, empowerment and ensuring no one is limited by their period.
