Formation Records is back with another brand new release from Simple Simon. A new artist to the label, the Norwich based producer is bringing a range of Drum and Bass sub genres with him.
The opening track ‘Decisions’ has an enticing intro with a unique vocal element added before the drop. The drop itself consists of huge bass which is sure to get your speakers pumping alongside a complimenting and simple drum pattern. This track doesn’t follow a series of repetition but mixes its contents up to later on to introduce a new section.
Track 2, ‘Cold Feet’, consisting of a similarly enticing build up to introduce a hard hitting electronic bass. Within the track is a light and free flowing melody with an oriental aura to it, this adds an element of depth to the track that is very noticeable. Track 3 ‘Chances’ has a punchy bass introduction that is hit hard alongside the fast and dominating drums.
The next track ‘Why you do’ has a much more chilled vibe to bring to the E.P. With uplifting synths that lead the almost liquid drums towards a prolonged break which immerses the listener in a chilled out pre drop section. Finally we come to ‘Shells’ with the most exciting build up on the E.P. that results in the hardest drop from the lot. Be ready for some hardcore bass that is constantly evolving throughout the track to keep listeners entertained and wanting more. The Final track on the E.P. makes a real statement. The incoming bass at 0:43 will leave you shell shocked with awe. Another Simple Simon feature of a long lull with a strong uplift afterwards can be found in this track.
