The duo High Roll has been the main engine of the dnb/jungle movement in Bulgaria for the last 20 years and has been part of the WODNB and Formation Records for over 10 years. If you are a drum and bass artist, fan or enthusiast and have been to a big party in Bulgaria, it is almost certain that these two guys are responsible for this event with their local crew called HMSU which is actually the biggest drum and bass organization on the Balkans.
“Clubland EP” is entirely dedicated to the people who are in charge of making the visitors have a good time in clubs all over the world, but are often in the shadow of the artists. In the past two years, they have been the biggest victims of all the restrictions that we faced. Knowing this part of the music culture perfectly, the members of High Roll wanted to highlight through their music this quite invisible and at the same time very serious problem that is yet to show its true dimensions.
The first track is inspired by the person who makes sure that we always have the best drinks in our hands: the “Bartender”. This broken jazzy vibe is meant to shake us like a perfectly mixed drink at the bar.
The second production is specially dedicated to the people who care about our safety. Like every "Bouncer" this tune takes us on an unexpected journey full of rolling old-school feelings, deep basslines and melodies that make us think about the important things in life.
"Engineers" is a complex composition that stands out with a perfect progression in every part of its development. This is a typical feature of all those masters who deal with the proper functioning of sound, lights, visuals and everything else that requires precision and solid performance during every event.
The last work in “Clubland” focuses on the most important role of any club or event and the person who takes the main responsibility when organizing a party, or simply the "Bossman". Similar to a good manager, the track is associated with the end of a party; even after everyone has finished their work, he is there to solve even the smallest problem and to prepare every single detail for the next event while demonstrating an uplifted mood and optimism even in the worst of times.
