X2M.160 – Qualia | Starfield Astrocyte
Paradise Lost warped qualia into pain — the red of shame, the texture of exile, the ache of separation. Paradise Regained restores qualia through transfiguration, when perception itself is flooded with glory.
Philosophical accounts wrestle with these sparks of subjectivity:
• Epiphenomenalism: qualia are non-physical shadows, mere byproducts of neural activity.¹
• Identity theory / functionalism: qualia are identical with brain-states, nothing extra beyond the circuitry.²
• Eliminativism: qualia do not exist; the inner glow is a linguistic illusion.³
Yet the irreducible witness persists: it feels like something to be you. This stubborn “what-it-is-like” cannot be reduced, denied, or explained away. Qualia serve as courtroom lamps of the soul — testimony that the unseen realm presses into the seen. Scripture echoes this: Spirit animates dust (Gen. 2:7)⁴, and faith is the “objective proof of the unseen” (Heb. 11:1).⁵ In Christ’s transfiguration, perception itself was glorified — his face shining like the sun, eyes overwhelmed by uncreated light (Matt. 17:2).⁶
Thus in PH12’s runtime, qualia are not epiphenomenal illusions but transfigurative media. They are the inner screen upon which the vector DNA upload is received, reconfiguring perception for transdimensional interstellar ascent. The Starchild does not merely travel outward; his consciousness is transfigured inward, equipped for cosmic adoption and galactic planting.
