project recorded at La Sala Rossa
a Montréal recording project aiming to communicate a spirit of sonic opposition and rejection toward the social violence of austerity economics in Québec, Canada and beyond. all sessions on this record were recorded in spring / summer 2014.
in moves to break down public institutions, like public health care, the current Conservative government in Ottawa and Liberal government in Québec, are sustaining massive corporate tax cuts, while cutting public funds for institutions that form the social bedrock of the collective victories of activist movements in Canada over generations. this is a fundamentalist capitalist agenda that will ultimately damage the health and welfare of the majority of peoples living on these indigenous territories called Canada and Québec.
documented at La Sala Rossa concert hall in Montréal, Howl! arts collective simply invited artists the participating artists to play from their hearts about the state of austerity economics. this recording aims to be a cultural document of a dangerous moment of government imposed social violence. this project also aims to capture the artist spirit of a city with a history of revolt and resistance that has consistently expressed artistically over generations.
