Nearly everyone will eventually experience pain or injuries. Knowing how to handle these challenges can make a world of difference.
Accidents, pain and injuries are a part of life. Although we cannot truly prevent these things from happening, we can make the most of them to become stronger, wiser and more resilient in the future.
Some injuries are acute and traumatic, such as breaking a bone skiing (I've been there) or getting in a car accident.
Some aches and pain are minor, such as dealing with occasional issues after intense training, lengthy travel or too much time sitting in one position.
Over time, some acute injuries and pain can eventually become lingering, chronic issues. Chronic pain is extremely complex and often has more to do with our brain and nervous system than actual tissue damage.
Whatever type of pain you're dealing with, it's important to know that you have options.
I've dealt with several injuries over the years. And I've helped my clients work around nearly every conceivable acute and chronic pain issue.
In this week's episode, I share some of what I've learned about pain. Topics covered include:
~When to seek medical help from a doctor or physical therapist
~Steps you can take to promote the recovery process once you're cleared to exercise, or if you decide your issues aren't serious enough for medical attention
~How to modify your training to work around pain or injuries
~Why it's so important to stay moving and focus on all the things you can do
Check it out if you're dealing with aches and pains and need some help moving forward. If you're healthy and pain-free, listen to it now so you'll know what to do should you get hurt in the future.
