I'm back from New Zealand and ready to share some lessons learned on how to train for a backpacking trip.
During the course of six days and two backpacking trips, my group and I hiked 60 miles and gained 12,000 vertical feet of elevation.
This was made tougher by the difficult terrain on our second hike and the fact that we only had two days to recover between trips!
My two and half weeks in New Zealand were also filled with many other shorter hikes and one challenging day hike.
Needless to say, this was a very physical trip and I felt really grateful that I had done so much work to prepare my body in advance.
There were many things I did right in my prep, and a couple things I wish I'd done more of or done differently.
In this week's podcast episode, I want to share my lessons about what's most helpful and important when training for a challenging backpacking or hiking trip.
I know that hiking is a super popular activity among musicians, artists and other creatives.
There's a good chance you might be taking a trip like mine in the future, and this information can put you in the best position to feel great and enjoy the experience.
