Barrie is the man who helped spread the gospel of Roy Race, editing the comics which contained Roy of the Rovers. His book Real Roy of the Rovers Stuff! is his recollection of an era before Dream Team and the Premier League, when football and soap opera caught the eyes of hundreds of thousands of football fans. Even though Roy is in different hands now, Barrie had him in the Golden Age.
