At 5.30pm on May 13 2012, Manchester City won the Premier League for the first time. Dickie, a fan since the 1970s, was in Singapore watching a TV feed which made the evening more agonising even than it was for those watching at the Etihad.
Dickie’s book Feeling Blue: A True Story of Love, Life and Belonging is a marvellous edition to the fan memoir genre pioneered by Nick Hornby. Dickie chronicles his 40 years of support for City, from cheering on Joe Corrigan to watching the Class of ’86 break through to the years outside the top flight.
