Everton fan Paul has happy memories of following the team in the 1980s. His book The Forgotten Champions is the story of the 1986/87 season, when the Toffees won the First Division despite starting the season with a second-string line-up. Paul documents the ninth and most recent title, won under the management of Howard Kendall and achieved with the likes of utility player Alan Harper and Adrian ‘Inchy’ Heath.
Paul’s son Mark is a part of the Birmingham University Challenge team this series. The pair, along with Paul’s wife Janet, go to both Everton and Marine FC.
