Leeds fan Robert chatted to me having just returned from painting a mural at Elland Road. He has written books on the Don Revie era when Leeds played in all three European competitions, and collaborated with Dave Cocker, the son of coach Les, to tell the story of a pioneer of English coaching.

Cocker Hoop takes readers back to the interwar days where Les grew up in Stockport, where he began his playing career when he finished his National Service. Having gained one of the first certificates for coaching, he started at Luton Town before moving to Yorkshire. Les died in 1979 and was posthumously given a World Cup winner’s medal for helping England in their 1966 triumph.
