First Peter is a letter written to Jesus' followers who are far from their home. They are experiencing persecution, confusion, vulnerability, and weariness in a foreign land. Peter writes to encourage them. Because of their faith in Jesus, their home is with God. They are now exiled from their true home, but chosen through Christ to represent and usher in His kingdom here. Discomfort with the ways of the world is to be expected. Today, Jeri begins our summer series, "Strangers in a Foreign Land," as we explore how we as Jesus followers can live well in a world that is not our home.
