Description

Parkinson's is a progressive neurological condition, which causes problems in the brain and gets worse over time. The number of people diagnosed with Parkinson's in the UK is about 145,000 - around 1 adult in every 350.

Parkinson's UK maintains that having Parkinson's can feel overwhelming if people don't have the right information and support. The Parkinson's Social Club - which meets every Wednesday in the Red Street Community Centre, 62 Talke Road, Newcastle under Lyme, ST5 7AH, aims to meet this need.

In this episode, Lorraine, Vice Chair of the Parkinson's Social Club, and Elke Henson, specialist neuro-psychiatry nurse at Combined Healthcare, chat to Fiona Campbell from the Combined Communications Team about the disease, how it affects people and the work the club does to support local people with Parkinsons.
