On March 11, 2011, my friend Pat and I were mountain biking here in Japan. We had just reached our goal, a little hill next to a golf course, about one hour away from our car and civilization, including our families, when all hell broke loose and our lives changed in a moment.
These are my memories and reflections on that day and the days after.
