When San Jose resident Rachelle Cagampan noticed her 12-year-old daughter Veronica’s disinterest in her native Filipino culture, she started thinking of avenues to introduce her to it, to make it “cooler”. What she ended up with was a TV show -- an educational sitcom produced by Rachelle, and starring her daughter, Veronica Mendoza.
“Veronica’s Blog” was launched nationwide last October on the Filipino Channel, targeting the preteen Filipino-American set. The plot centers around a girl – Veronica - who wants to learn more about her culture, and does so, along with her group of friends, in their exclusive “V-bloggers Club”. Host Hana Baba sat down with both Rachelle and Veronica to talk about why Veronica needed to start appreciating her heritage.
