ben.jamin is back with his techno podcast Late. Dark. Nights. and now up to volume 22. This latest session was inspired by the hard and deep techno sounds of Berlin and the interesting new genre Leftfield House that is abstract in both sound and form. Most people can't pin down the specific qualities that define Leftfield House or how it differs from other forms of house and techno but what particularly caught my ear is how experimental it sounds. It's almost extra-terrestrial. The beat doesn't always follow the familiar 4/4 rhythmic structure and new sounds can drop into the track at any point. It provides for a lot of interesting sounds and texture. Monotony and repetition is certainly avoided. Late. Dark. Nights.
