Description

“As Is” basically is a combination of projects in one record. It is a combination of Devonte Lennon, who are you Devonte Olujimi, and Massive. The three titles mentioned were albums that were worked on and instead consolidated to one Album named “As Is”. “As Is” is just as the title explains take it as is. As Is cover art is a dipping image of Devonte Olujimi. This cover art can be interpreted in many ways. As Is isn’t just some ordinary Ep it’s a combination of a lot genres of music. For example, you have the Intro with its old school kick and snare, violin, as well as a muddy bass guitar. Devonte gives you phenomenal bars about working towards financial gains and life. He states, “everybody goes through ups and downs, but better days are on the way.” From the intro you are guided to the second song titled All 4 It which is produced by Brotha Harris who has produced for various artist. You have various sounds with a southern kick and snare. Devonte gives you various melodies with a speeded up catchy hook. All 4 it sounds very present era timed and must be one of the many inspirational songs. All 4 it would be a great work out song at the gym or cleaning song around the house. A little bit later during the project you have a song called She’s The One produced by Brotha Harris. This is a very relaxed feeling song. Some people would call it R&B and hip hop. Later into the Ep you have a song call I Didn’t Ask which is only and acoustic guitar and Devonte melodies in Autotune. The song I Didn’t ask some would consider it country music. Devonte Olujimi had a lot of reason for the release of As Is. The projects quality sounds wonderful, the producers did an outstanding job, and it is a fine display of art. All the reasons were great reasons but the deeper meaning behind As Is be yourself, take it as is. As Is has a song or lyric you can relate to. And for the most part it is something that can be helpful. From the youth to elders As Is can be enjoyed. Devonte states, “I would have felt bad to know I never left a recorded for those who’s been with me this entire way and enjoy what I do.” As Is the Ep of course had other reason for it’s release and deeper meanings, but we will not discuss it. We will enjoy the hard work and wonderful music Devonte Olujimi has delivered.
