Friday, July 17th, 1981 is a night Kansas City won't forget. Tea dances at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Crown Center had become popular weekly summer events. It's why KMBC's Micheal Mahoney was there covering the event for a feature story. But just after 7pm that night, two skywalks collapsed, killing more than 100 people and injuring dozens more. In this episode you'll hear from a KC native who lost his mom and stepfather in the disaster. We also talk to an architect and attorney who walks us through the design failure and negligence that led to the collapse.
