I own two coffee machines. One makes a perfect cup every single time with minimal effort. The other requires this wannabe barrister to get very hands on and involved in the coffee making process. It takes time and effort. If your business was a coffee machine, which would it be?
The general rule of thumb is to make your business as easy and frictionless as possible for your clients to get the result they pay for. In other words, be a Nespresso. However, if your business either requires your client’s deeper involvement or a fundamental aspect of your product or service requires a degree of investment of time and energy, it should be engaging, inspiring and a wonderful process. In other words, be a DeLonghi.
In this episode I share the virtues and pitfalls of both.
