Dr. Sonya Douglass is a Professor of Education Leadership, the Founding Director of the Black Education Research Collective, and Co-Director of the Urban Education Leaders Program at Columbia University.
Dr. Douglass examines the problem of racial inequality in K-12 schools and how race is conceptualized and understood by leaders for equity and social justice in the U.S. Her current work explores the problem and politics of race and educational inequality in non-U.S. contexts to include collaborations with faculty colleagues at University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa and thought leaders at the Lemann Center for Leadership and Equity in Education in Brazil.
Dr. Douglass’ specialties include education policy, school segregation and desegregation, critical race theory in education, Black and African American education and leadership, and leadership for social justice. She joins Dr. Peterson for the Tuesday teach-in to discuss more about her work.
