In Week One of the Posture of Advent Series, Ps Janice spoke on the posture of “Open Hands”.
Guiding us through the advent story in Luke 1:26-34, we glean into the life of Mary as she receives the promise of the Messiah, Jesus. The posture that Mary took as she encountered the angel. - with open hands, in acceptance and faith.
Open hands signify a posture of letting go, of surrendering instead grasping for ourselves. In our own lives, how is the Lord guiding us to a yielded faith in this advent season? How much of our life are we grasping for ourselves? Do we struggle to wholly trust God, living a naked defense less, and glad surrender like Mary.
May we come with open hands as we approach our week, trusting and surrendering to God.
