Sometimes we walk around on a surface without truly appreciating the foundation underneath us. Dr. Bambade Shakoor-Abdullah was one of those unsung pillars of our community. SubhanAllah, she was so humble that many of her achievements didn't even become public until she passed, just a few weeks ago.
Dr. Bambade was founder of the Leadership Development Institute (LDI), founder of the Chicago Metropolitan Educational Center for Community Advancement (CMECCA), and a mentor and tireless anti-violence advocate.
Her husband, Kasib Abdullah, spoke with us about her tireless efforts and self-less character. Our host Tariq also shares how she inspired him.
We pray that Allah gives her the best reward in paradise and puts blessing in her work.
