Welcome to another Radio Islam Artist Profile! In this edition we talk with Chicago Native, Jameela Durr; raised on Chicago’s Southside since the age of 15 she’s performed off and on throughout the years, singing and dancing. Jameela is a fusion of jazz/blues/indie/folk/EDM singer, modern dancer, a poet and writer focusing on spirituality, philosophy, biology, and social unrest.
We talk about her inspirations and aspirations as an artist, as well as got to hear her perform a snippet of a recently composed song/poem. We also talked about some of the opportunities and challenges African American Muslim Artist face today.
