We are joined in-studio by Maya Dukmasova of the Chicago Reader. Maya's new article, "The problem with the 'public health' approach to ideological violence" details how a govt. strategy called "Countering Violent Extremism" (CVE) attempts to curb youth attraction to extremist groups.
But CVE's methods involve many of the same biases and murkiness of previous, more abrasive strategies. Does getting community figures to report to 'warning signs' to law enforcement just alienate youth even more? And how does the threat of white supremacy get treated compared to Muslim extremists?
