Description

In the seventy-third episode of The Just Checking In Podcast, we checked in author and men's mental health consultant, Toni.

For legal reasons, for the purposes of this pod, we refer to Toni by her pseudonym, Ella Brooks, which she used to write the book, 'The Right Thing to Do: Reporting Rape in Britain's Criminal Justice System'.

Toni’s journey is so deep and so important that we are dedicating this episode entirely to her book, which we’ll discuss in three parts as the book lays out.

We discuss Toni's journey as well as her lived experience of rape, miscarriage, self-harm and suicide.

We also discuss the re-traumatisation she experienced when she reported her rape by a former boss and how she was let down by the system which she had hoped would protect her and give her justice.

As always, #itsokaytovent
