Description

For our penultimate podcast of the series, we are joined by Ben Carpenter, a Transplant Consultant at UCLH. We start by discussing the history of Allogeneic transplantation through the 20th Century, and how transplants are matched.

We the move into the rationale for the use of different types of conditioning and sources of haematopoietic progenitor cells. Potential areas of refinement, and new directions of travel for immunotherapies are explored at the end.

Transplantation is a large area, so we will be investigating the complications arising from infection, and GVHD in the next series.
