Believe it or not, religious superstition can creep into the minds of God-fearing, born again Christians. A good thing of God can be turned into a kind of a spiritual talisman that distorts and perverts truth and righteousness. You might be surprised to learn how habits, beliefs, objects and things can be ignorantly rooted as superstitions in the hearts of believers.
Paul wrote: "Put off YOUR OLD SELF, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to PUT ON THE NEW SELF, created after the likeness of God in TRUE RIGHTEOUSNESS AND HOLINESS. (Eph 4:22-24).
We surely should know that it is not about some special, mysterious or lucky ways; that it is only about "The Way, the Truth and the Life." Our Gospel tells us that it's not about things of faith; it is about the Person of our faith. Yet, no one is immune from the risk of easing into superstitious behavior. It is akin to a common trait of human nature.
