Abraham did not withhold his son, his only son Isaac from the altar in obedience to God. He passed THE TEST. Included in this human race changing b'rakhot (blessing) spoken by God, was this declaration:
".. your descendants SHALL POSSESS THE GATE of their enemies."
A few years later, upon the passing of Abraham's wife Sarah, who was the matriarch of the promises to the seed blessed in the Abrahamic covenant; divine destiny prevailed at the Place of From as Rebekah was discovered to become Isaac's wife, the new matriarch of the promises. Her family asked her to prolong her departure, but she passed THE TEST and instead determined not to "hinder the way of the Lord" and agreed to go THE PLACE OF NEXT without delay. She was sent out with this b'rakhot from her family:
"... may you become the mother of thousands of ten thousands, and may your descendants POSSESS THE GATES of those who hate them. "
