my entry for ambientonline.org one sample dare 32. This was made only using this sample: https://soundcloud.com/aural_solace/ambient-online-one-sample-dare-32-in-need-of-oil
what a great sample, i really enjoyed this! it took me back to the mid 90s when i started making beats using samples on music maker.. i could hear a sleazy sax in the creak and drums hits.. i dug out my old copy of music maker and i was suprised it worked but it made it so easy to cut up that sample . thats what you hear in the first 30 seconds the unadulterated drum hits and creak (with a bit of reverb on the creak, oh and the sample run thru cecilia5 beatmaker to give a bit extra in the background)
then i had a bit of static coming thru like a radio which was made just by paulstretching 1000% in audacity
the main part of the track i wanted to get a slow pulsing sound with that sax in there and kind of jazzy and i'm really happy how it turned out (apart from the high pitched whistle which i was sure i isolated at 3.9 khz but i just couldnt get rid of it). i used the cecilia5 resonators module and fiddled with it in real time while i recorded in audacity (with the sample looping) adding reverb, then chorus, then harmonizer then flange throughout so it gets more ambient.
i took this recording and cloned it with more reverb in cecilia then had that as a separate track in audacity with a slight delay to add a bit more to that free jazz feel.
it was all sequenced in audacity and i added the static to fade out.
