Ep. 86 - Rei-Gurren. In this episode I talk with the members of Rei-Gurren (Rae, Rueben, Bryant). Rei-Gurren is a punk band from Window Rock/St. Michaels here on the Navajo Nation. They play a style of punk they refer to as “Anime-Core / Otaku Punk”. They formed in 2012 with Rae and Rueben being the core members. I met up with the band last week at their practice space and had a good conversation. We talked about the band’s formation, being punk in a metal dominant scene, personal struggles, and how the band balances their personal lives. I appreciate the members for being very open about some of their personal struggles. This is one of the most personal and open conversation I’ve had with a band.
