Description

This brought back the ol’ Led Zeppelin shivers, from the days when we were hearing them for the first time… Specifically the speaker-straining intro to “When The Levee Breaks”. Anyway…

Since I can’t play well enough to jam credibly over this, I processed it with Mangle and ambient v.3 and chose bits to stretch, embellish, phase, convolute, flange, delay, add reverb to and otherwise defile. I also double tracked the original track, adding delay and restrained reverb, as well as 2 down pitched segments and a trick delay ending. Um, if that counts as “changing the source audio”, then I guess I’ve broken the rules. Again. Especially since I also laid the first half over the second half, beat matched. Just to emphasise its gut-rumbling metal-ness and make the floor shake. :)

The only sound that doesn’t originate in the original track is a piece of processed choral music that runs from about 1:00 min up to the drop (which I extended) and again between 4:30 and 6:00

Step 2: When posting the track, Name Constant accompanied it with this invitation: “additions welcome, should anyone be inspired by emptyness.” Please create a new track with the source audio as the foundation. (Do not change the source audio, though you can also use it as raw material for whatever you choose to add.)
