Description

On the 27th edition of our blogcast, we proudly present @iamtechnophile.

We always promise to provide the best content, for that we choose our guests selectively, and of course the very best of them. Nabih Esta or Technophile is no stranger Beirut’s music scene, he has been there for a while and we can definitely say, he is a Class A local artist/Dj, rising to reach the same caliber internationally. We chose not go after his biography on social media platforms, so we decided take a closer look and have a brief chit-chat with him. "I wanted to record something special, different from the mixes I usually record, stuff that people and myself can always listen to at home” he says. And he did...

1. We know that you have selected some rare records on vinyl for this mix, care to mention some?

1- Tangerine dream - Rubycon
2- Miles Davis – Felo
3- Cinematic Orchestra - Ma Fleur
4- Skalpel - Low
5- ID - ID
6- Moritz Von Oswald Trio - Sounding Line
7- ID - ID
8- Ibrahim Jaber - Faces
9- Ziad el Rahbani - Abu Ali

2. Your Experience as an Uberhaus resident Dj. A few words to describe the change in your career as an artist:

My experience as an @Uberhaus resident was a big turning point in my career. It helped me shape my profile and solidify my project as Technophile. The past four years at Uberhaus have been very exciting and dynamic. I get to meet really cool artists every weekend, and of course let’s not forget to mention the amazing people and massive crowd which without them nothing of all this success would have been possible. Having a local club supporting you is, in my opinion, awesome and limitless. I see it as an open platform, to share, exchange and create epic memories and experiences. Uberhaus was simply a breakthrough in the local scene and it definitely re-boosted it.

3. The difference in identities as being Nesta or Technophile?:

Nesta is an old chapter, Technophile is what you will be seeing next, and I can’t wait to share with you all of the exiting coming projects, collaborations, releases and surprises. The adventures have just begun ;)

4. 'Fantôme De Nuit Records: The founders, the concept, artists and the music direction:

@FantomedeNuit records was founded by me and my good friend Wissam Jabbour, releasing on digital and vinyl. Elias Merheb (aka 3LIAS) will also be joining us in the partnership. It is a platform that we created to support new comers in the scene in Beirut or Abroad, also merging arts and music together, giving a platform to all kind of artists and not only DJs and producers. We are releasing music on both vinyl and digital formats, Also most of the artworks are illustrations from different designers and drawers. Regarding the music direction, we are not really stuck in one style or one genre. For me, as a label manager and A&R, it is really boring to stick to one genre, even when producing music and releasing. We believe in good music and good artists, we don’t just follow trends.

Artists involved: Technophile, 3LIAS, Rolbac, Silky Raven, Adam Zahran, Three Machines, Monokultur, Philipp Briebe, Thomas A.S. , Signal Deluxe, Ezequiel Esley, Nadia Popoff etc…

5. Any upcoming releases?
As Technophile, we have just completed a mini LP/ album of 7 tracks in collaboration with Silky Raven that is going to be released on a big label (I can’t disclose the details right now, but stay tuned!!). The idea behind it was super interesting, we sampled some oriental tunes from the 50's and the 60's and mixed them with Techno and Acid. An EP in collaboration with Rolbac will be released on vinyl on Fantôme de Nuit in April 2016, as well as another EP as Technophile on Deep Tech Records (Michigan based label) and some more TBA. Also, I just did a remix for Three Machines on Fantôme de Nuit which came out on 12.11.2015, in addition to a track that will be out on Fantôme de Nuit’s second VA. We are also finalizing a mini LP of 6 tracks, details will be shared very soon.
