We read in 1 Samuel 30 that when David faced the worst of circumstances, he strengthened himself in the Lord his God. He went from weeping until he had no strength left to weep, to leading himself out of his inner turmoil and changing his external situation. Three things we need to know to strengthen ourselves in God are: the truth; that God sets us up not to fail but to grow; and that we have a responsibility to strengthen ourselves.
