Welcome to the International Mental Health Nursing Research Conference 2020, which in the International Year of the Nurse and Midwife is happening online as part of #mhTV through a collaboration between Unite/Mental Health Nurses Association, WeMHNurses, Mental Health Nurse Academics UK, and the Centre for Coproduction in Mental Health and Social Care in the Middlesex University School of Health and Education.
Between Tuesday 15th September and Friday 25th September we will be running episodes that will feature evening panel discussions supplemented by presentations from each contributor that will be available to watch beforehand. Episode 2 [originally broadcast on Wednesday 16 September 2020] was on the theme of 'physical intervention' and featured two panellists:
Michael Nash is a lecturer in mental health nursing at Trinity College Dublin. He has a special interest in physical health issues in mental health and clinical risk assessment and management in mental health nursing.
Dr Jacqueline White is a registered mental health nurse since 1986, Jacquie conducted a programme of research into nurse-led physical health checks in secondary care for her PhD. This work implemented the Health Improvement Profile (HIP), a tool she co-designed for mental health nurses that is now used across the world. Developing practice that has an impact on the mental health and wellbeing of adults and young people remains the focus of her teaching and research. Jacquie has worked in a variety of roles at the University of Hull, most recently Associate Dean Education (2015-2020) and commenced a new role as Mental Health Strategy Lead in March.
