Welcome to episode 44 [originally broadcast on Wednesday 31 March 2021] of #mhTV​​​​​​​​​​. In this episode of #mhTV​​, Nicky Lambert and Dave Munday were joined by guest Sam Dorney-Smith to talk about people who are experiencing homelessness.

Sam is an Adult Registered Nurse, Specialist Practitioner (Practice Nursing), and Nurse Prescriber. Having started her career in General Medicine and A&E she has been working with people experiencing homelessness since 2004. She previously managed the Health Inclusion Team (a nurse outreach team working in hostels and day centres in Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham), and more recently set up the ‘Pathway’ inpatient services for homeless people in Guys and St Thomas’, Kings and South London and Maudsley. Sam now works as a Nursing Fellow for Pathway, focused on service improvement / development in inclusion health nationally. She has had several journal articles published, has sat on numerous homeless health related steering groups, and was previously seconded to the DH. She is also currently the Nurse Project Lead for the Queen’s Nursing Institute Homeless Health Programme, the Secretary of the London Network of Nurse’s and Midwives Homelessness Group, and works doing street outreach for Doctors of the World one evening a week. This year she came runner up in the BJN Nurse of the Year category.
