Kris has 15 years of mental health nursing experience, including senior practitioner for a crisis team, specialist in adolescent psychosis, and practice development to improve participatory practices with service users.
Main interest is acute mental health care particularly improving risk management practices.
Teach pre and post graduate students, module lead research on new nursing degree, and currently module lead for mental health dissertations.
Lead the CPD module of Working with a Person Experiencing a Mental Health Crisis - involving crisis management in mental health care.
Involved in research to improve service user's experience of mental health care.
Currently engaged in PhD study exploring how service users experience safety to engage in their recovery as part of risk management on an acute mental health ward.
Peer reviewer for the Journal of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing
Editor for forthcoming text: Interprofessional Perspectives of Mental Health Crisis: For Nursing, Health, and the Helping Professions, 1st edition. Via Open University Press in 2022.
Jane’s background is in mental health nursing. She teaches on both pre-registration and post qualified courses. Her research interests are in mental health nursing identity.
