Description

It may be an actually felony to try and get through a month of cyberpunk content and not discuss this weeks film. There are few genres in cinema that have created as definitive a statement as to what they are as Blade Runner. 42 years later it remains the master class in how to deliver a cyberpunk story/ neo noir story on the big screen. And since we’re taking all things Blade Runner, why not tackle it’s long in development legacy sequel; the visually stunning yet oddly frustrating Blade Runner: 2049.

Star Trek Deep Space Nine manages to balance a little 90’s silly with a great character (Dax) and cultural (Trill) deep dive with season 2, episode 4, Equilibrium. Staying on message, this weeks books serves as an authorized sequel to both Blade Runner and it’s source material, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. K.W. Jeter’s Blade Runner 2: The Edge of Human is an interesting, if flawed, glimpse into a sequel trajectory that never made it to the screen.
