The Nicene Creed 4: The Only Begotten Son
One of the biggest tasks in front of the counsel of Nicaea was in developing language to explain how the Father, Son and Spirit could all be one God and not three separate gods. This was primarily in response to the teaching of Arias, who believed that Jesus was a separate being created by God at a point in time. Today, as we look at the second section of the creed, we consider what it means that Jesus is the “only begotten Son.”

Join us as this Lent as we explore the historic Nicene Creed, a 4th century Christian faith statement. Each week we launch two new episodes on Wednesdays and Fridays. Our Wednesday episodes focus on the history surrounding the creed and its development. On Fridays we look at the actual content of the creed and consider its implications. Along the way we may be joined by some special guests in bonus episodes. Be on the lookout!
